TSVETANKA
ELENKOVA
was born in Sofia in 1968. She has published four poetry collections and a book of essays
about the Balkans,
Time and Relation.
Her poetry has been translated into twelve languages. Her third collection,
The Seventh Gesture, appeared in both an
English
and a Serbian edition while an English edition of her latest collection,
Crookedness, is forthcoming. Her work has appeared in English in the magazines
Absinthe,
ILQ,
MPT,
Orient
Express,
Poetry Review
and
Zoland Poetry.
She has been a guest at the
Vilenica
(Slovenia),
Poeteka
(Albania) and
Tinos
(Greece) literary festivals. She edited the magazines Ah Maria and
Europe 2001 in Bulgaria and Helios in Greece. She translates from
English, Greek and Macedonian. Her translation of Speaking of Siva was
nominated for the Hristo G. Danov National Award. Her other translations include
an anthology of Raymond Carver’s poetry,
Luck,
as well as poetry by Bogomil Gjuzel, Fiona Sampson and Angelos Sikelianos. She
co-directs the publishing house Small Stations Press.
